Kevin Garnett and 4XL--For Excellence in Leadership®
4XL - For Excellence in Leadership® expands the pool of high school and early college students interested in business careers through three program elements: technology-based guidance, business immersion experiences and leadership development. 4XL® launched a pilot business immersion at the 2002 NBA All-Star Game Weekend in Philadelphia. Two students attended three days of business meetings at the NBA All-Star Weekend where they met NBA executives, received a behind-the-scenes operations tour and participated in a product development session. At the end of the weekend, they shared their experience with Kevin Garnett. In 2003, Kevin hosted a career focus group over NBA All-Star Weekend in Atlanta where four students shared their career aspirations and perceived challenges to achieving their goals. Kevin also solicited their input on a prototype version of the 4XL® website and career development tools that will launch later this year, powered by Monster, the leading global online careers property. Three influential business leaders also shared their personal experiences and advice with the students - senior Harvard Business School Professor James Cash who is also a board member at Microsoft Corporation and General Electric, Michael Dennis - a senior executive at Avaya Corporation, and Steve Pogorzelski - President of Monster North America.
